Eu tenho uma teoria de que bandas que tenham ! – mais conhecido como ponto de exclamação – no nome são boas. Ela começou de maneira boba: já conhecia Clap Your Hands Say Yeah!, aí descobri Panic! At the Disco e You Say Party! We Say Die!, e aí passei a procurar bandas que tinham esse símbolo no meio, e todas as que encontrei até agora fizeram jus à regra, com boas surpresas, como The Go! Team.

Panic! At the Disco

Quem: Banda que é mistura doida de pop punk, rock e música eletrônica e outros ritmos, está começando a fazer sucesso agora. Sim, eles parecem emo, até em algumas fotos, já que usam maquiagem e cabelos boi-lambeu, mas não se deixe enganar, os caras não são isso não. E mesmo se fossem, e daí, eles tocam muito bem, escute mesmo assim.

Quê: I Constantly Thank God For Esteban, The Only Difference Between Martyrdom and Suicide Is Press Coverage.

Ponto Forte: O título das músicas, que são quase um livro. Ou você não adoraria ter bolado um nome como “There’s a Good Reason These Tables Are Numbered Honey You Just Haven’t Thought Of It Yet”?

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah!

Quem: Banda indie nova, teve um ótimo primeiro disco lançado no ano passado, chamado – cúmulo da originalidade – Clap Your Hands Say Yeah!. O álbum foi lançado por uma gravadora independente e ficou conhecido do grande público através da internet, como no MySpace.com e em blogs de MP3. O nome da banda foi tirado de uma parede pichada em New York. É, sem dúvida, a melhor banda dessas que estão aqui.

O quê: Ouçam todo o CD. É todo ótimo.

Ponto Forte: A voz de taquara rachada do vocalista. Quem ouviu já tentou imitar.

Quem: Banda de rock inglesa formada no início de 2004, que toca um som legal, apesar de não possuir nenhuma qualidade que o tornem únicos e especiais.

Quê: Roman Is Better, Táxi!

Ponto Forte: Ah, não tem assim uma qualidade única. Mas vale a pena ouvir.

You Say Party! We Say Die!

Quem: Banda canadense que teve um EP lançado em 2004 e um álbum completo em 2005. Com uma vocalista meio insana que adora gritar, YSP! Pode ser meio estranho da primeira vez que escutamos, mas depois a gente vê que é supimpa.

Quê: Cold Hands! Hot Bodies, You Did It!, The Gap (Between The Rich and The Poor)

Ponto Forte: O nome da banda. Toda vez que eu ouço eu imagino uma mulher bem alternativa, daquelas com tatuagens espalhadas no corpo, piercings e meias listradas até o joelho gritando WE SAY DIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!! É idiota, eu sei, mas eu me divirto...

The Go! Team

Quem: Sexteto britânico que mistura estilos como músicas-tema de filmes, cantos de cheerleaders, guitarras, hip-hop antigo, tipo Beastie Boys e um pouco do funk dos anos 70s. Uma das bandas mais divertidas que já ouvi.

Quê: Bottle Rocket, Ladyflash, Panther Dash, The Power is On!

Ponto Forte: São cheerleaders. Que misturam um milhão de estilos. Precisa de mais? E ainda tem dois bateristas! Já viu alguma banda com dois bateristas?

Quem: Mais uma banda nova, formada em 2004, na Inglaterra. Apesar de não serem muito originais (alguns diriam originais demais...), já que os nomes das músicas do grupo são apenas números (Two, Thirteen, Eight...), o som dela é bastante legal. O vocalista é meio fraquinho em alguns momentos, o que, numa primeira escutada, pode assustar um pouco, mas persista e você vai ver que essa banda merece estar aqui também.

Quê: Nine, Thirteen, Twelve

Ponto forte: A melodia da banda é muito boa, contrabalançando as eventuais escorregadas do vocalista.
